around noonish today, fedex delievered a box to my house. I opened it up and its an oder from liveaquria.com. It turns out to be my birthday gift form my mother, i didnt know i was getting these till they arrived.

Inside there are 2 blue/green chromis, starbust polyp, and 2 algae blennies.

So heres my problem, tank is about 8 weeks old and currently has 2 false p. clowns in it. Since the tank is still relativley new, adding this many things at once is alot i think. On top of that, ive also read that 2 blennys is bad and they will try and kill each other. I went to the LFS today and the person there seemed to have no interest in taking one of the blennies, and i dont really trust the other LFS around here. If they are added at the same time, will they not kill each other? the LFS lady also said if they are male/female they wont attack each other, is that true and if it is how can i tell.

Another problem is, i havent read too much on corals yet since i was planning on waiting a few more weeks before looking into them, is there anything special i need to know to care for these polyps? Also do i need to feed them a certain type of food?

So those are my 3 problems, lots of things being added at once, 2 blennies, and lack of polyp care info, Please help!

haven't people heard of gift certificates? sorry to read of your surprise. awesome gesture from your mom but still, GAH!

don't have much to advice as i'm a noob who is still researching, but good luck all the same!

i would tell everyone as nicely as possible, if they want to get you anything saltwater related, get a gift certificate/card to the site or LFS.

2 chromis are nothing. They are hardy also, it will be fine.

Just make sure you have algae for the blenny, they starve to death slowly in many cases.

I don't know any LFS that won't take a lawnmower. Why don't you offer it to them for free? Maybe talk to the owner/manager.

I wouldn't put two lawnmowers in a 75g.

What kind of lighting do you have?

Set up quarantine matching their salt water and put them in it as soon as you can mix the water.
If the blennies are both lawnmowers you are apt to have a fight---unless you luck out and have a pair. But 2 are too much for a 75. I agree give one away. More humane.

Do you have a sump? If so then one of the blennies can go in their temporarily until you can find a home for it. Unfortunately what your mother really gave you is a lot of extra water changes. However the other fish should be fine. On the other hand the starburst polyp may suffer because of the high nitrates caused by the new bioload.

i am running sumpless, but in other good news, i did find a new home for the second blenny via the local reef forum

so i just have to hope that the polyp will be ok, thanks for the help!

that on a 75? Thats not a lot of light at all. You will need to keep the polyps high up.

Check into a Nova Extreme Pro

I have less light then that on my 65g and am growing SPS quite well 18" down in the water column. Have a crocea clam 22" down in the tank too. All is well.

For the corals he has the light will be fine. IMO for jsut about any coral he would want to keep, that light would be fine.

On top of that, ive also read that 2 blennys is bad and they will try and kill each other.

Depends. Not all algae blennies are lawn mower blennies. I have two blennies in a 65g and they have lived together for about 3 months with no issue. It can be a problem with some species more then others IME.

No problem with that lighting.
