Recirculation pump needed

Hi All:

Can I please have a recommendation for a Tunze silence recirculation pump. I have a 57 gallon deep blue tank that is twenty inches deep which sits on a 32" stand. The tank will be a sps heavy tank with fish. The return will be 3/4" and have only one 90 degree elbow. I have a 1073.020 but I don't think it's enough (oops)!

Thanks,

Rick

I would go with 1073.040, this should do about 450-500gph at this height with the elbow. The 1073.020 is technically enough, you really only need to turn the tank through the sump about 5 times per hour, but if you want more the 1073.040 would be almost double the flow at this head height. I would not want more than 10 times turn over through the sump. The majority of your flow should be done by in tank powerheads or a seperate closed loop, high flow through the sump tends to result in poor skimmer performance and can reduce overall filter efficiency.
