Found this thing in the liverock tank at the LFS yesterday, got it for the price of rock ($5). I guess it's a trach?? Gave it a good long Revive bath and threw it in the frag tank.

Think I can bring it back around???? :bounce1:

Thanks Mallorie. I saw your name on a sweet tank in there ...!

That other coral was in the $29 dollar section when I went in, I think. It made this one look fantastic. Go figure. LOL I'll bet this one makes it just fine.

Really REALLY bad shape. I would recommend keeping it highly shaded unless it was under light in the rock tank. Dropping it into your display or frag tank under normal light will likely do even more damage. That being said, a lot of them are pretty resilient.

Sad thing is, looking at the skeleton size, that is/was a GOOD sized piece. If it recovers, that will look fantastic, maybe 8" on inflate.

I think it can be saved.

This little acan was worse off than what you have there just 2 days ago and its already making a big come back.

Oh yeah. You can bring that baby around! Here was my best resurrection, before and after:

I feel really good about this trach, or scoly or whatever it is. I'll definitely keep y'all posted. :)

We took the tank off hold today. :( just can't afford it because we are going to have to get new lighting and everything custom for it. We are just going to go with a 90 gallon they have there. I saw that wellso when it was nice. I don't know what it is but that store can't seem to keep trachs and wellsos at all.

I believe it is a wellso. .

How the heck do you tell the difference? I never even looked sideways at these open brains before, I know very little about them.

BTW the coral is in my girlfriend's frag tank, and she tells me it has improved dramatically in the last 24 hours. :)

Many trachy skeletons are round and flat, curving inwards like a bowl, the bottom is usually cone shaped. Wellsos have lots of surface folds and are shaped closer towards a ball.

Id be surprised if it makes it. Nothing against you, but it is in tough shape. Good luck anyways and hopefully you can.

I saved a few that were heavily receded, but never had much luck with bleaching corals.
Receded and bleached -? I have to agree with mscarpena - Its definitely a long-shot.

RokieM gives good advice on light and placement.
