Trying to figure out which bulb to get before I go spending money on several to try. I'm currently running a 250w phoenix 14k de on on a lumatek adjustable ballast. I get a nice white light with a very subtle blue tint, but I don't get much if any actinic pop. It would be a pain to setup actinic supplementation given my canopy design, so I am looking for the "perfect" bulb(to me anyway).
I want a crisp white to slightly blue light, but it must give a nice actinic pop without any actinic supplementation. The phoenix just doesn't do it. I don't really want a dim blue bulb either. I was reading about the EVC 20k DE bulb and it seems to be the perfect bulb for what I'm looking for, however I guess there were quality control issues and it disappeared. Another I was considering is the AB 20k DE, but that seems to be another elusive bulb. Can someone recommend a good 250w de bulb with a brighter white/blue tint with great actinic pop? Something that is readily available. The lumatek ballast is adjustable, so I can run it on standard 250w mode or HQI mode.
