Recommend a return pump (in sump)

I am working on a new tank (125 gallon with 55 gallon sump). Yeah I know it isn't 180 but I figured this was the best place to ask about larger pumps. The first recommendation that I got was eheim but their largest pump (900 gph) isn't large enough. So....

What brand pump (and model if you want to go that far) would you recommend for this application. I have seen many amazing tanks on these forums and hope to have a small part of that someday.

I have a eheim 1262 on my 210 as a return which gives me a little under 4x turnover through the sump which works for me. How much flow through the sump do you want? Most do somewhere between 3x to 5x

I agree with shawn... Eheim 1262 or 1260 is the best choice...

I think they have a great reputation but they are more costly and run a higher wattage draw vs some pumps on the market....like the QO :)

I don't know what you are looking for GPH'wise but Supreme has a new line of pumps called Hy-Drive. There are seven models that range from 1600 gph- 6000 gph and can be submerged.

I am planning on build my sump to look like this

Fuge>>>>Return<<<.skimmer

I would of course have less flow to the fuge side and more for the skimmer. I will be running an octopus pro 250.

Would the Eheim be enough for the return? I would need to split this for both overflows and want to make sure I have enough power when considering head loss.
