ok, so the other day i was on this formum and suggested to somone that aquacon. was a website where you could purchase a blacktang.

not long after i posted, someother people said that it was a really bad website, so out of curiousity i started to search for online websites.

there are many of them out there, but the questions that i want to know, as with any other stores: what sites are good/reputible/honest/have good reputation/customer service? here are some i saw, please post good or bad so every one knows which and why?

aquacon.
reefhotspot.
liveaquaria.
saltwaterfish.

isn't divers den the same? the "what you see is what you get" or wysiwug is that really true? yours that you ordered like that were in fact the pics you saw of them earlier?

Live aquaria does that also. They have a special section where you see the picture of the actual coral/invert/fish you are purchasing, granted it is more expensive, but to some it gives more peace of mind.

have you ever had a bad experience? or bad experience with another online fs? ever hear of aquacon, or exoticaquatic, salfwaterfish.

Troublesx10.....see my join date? Ever since then, Aquacon has been ripping people off. I'm surprised they are still in business. They've been doing it for a looooong time. Besides, they are local for you. So if you want to see what they've got, just go up there. They are in Pembroke Pines last I saw. I don't believe they were around when I live in the area, other wise I would have gone to see them merely out of curiosity. I've ordered from Premium Aquatics, Live Aquaria, Phishy Business, Dr. Macs, etc. All have been good experiences. I've had few bad ones because I still with the good vendors. Stick with the ones that support the site and check the vendor experience forum.

Does anyone have LR and LS recommendations? I have yet to find a LS dealer with the macro life (stars, worms, pods, etc). Everyone has been trying to sell me the bags of bioactive sand. I know in 2001 I got it, but cannot remember which online FS I got it from. :(

Also, there seem to be so many LR dealers out there. Some look like the brown rock I am used to seeing and some have pics totally covered in purple coraline algae. I would rather have comments from the reefing community than rely on their site pictures.

IPSF (Indo Pacific Sea Farms) if you're looking for macro life.
You're best bet for live sand is really other area reefers...

Saltwaterfish.com if you become a repeat buyer you get freebies and every now and then they will email you 10.00 coupon so basically s/h cost you $9.99 overnight from Vero, FL. That by far is the cheapest =)

Blue Zoo aquatics and Liveaquaria are the two best I've come across. I've started leaning towards Blue Zoo lately because their prices tend to be better plus no tax and no next day air charges for something that's in my own state.

I have heard positives about all except aquacon. I have had good experiences with liveaquaria but never used the others.

Do not use aquacon. I have heard from 2-3 people first hand and read many stories about them.

My experience with Aquacon was a nightmare along with Vivid Aquarium. I wouldn't order anything from either of those two. I have been very satisfied with everything I ordered from Bluezoo Aquatics.

i've bought a number of sensitive fish from liveaquaria, they are very good if you are spending the bucks on specific livestock. i bought a muelleri from them that lived for years, and that's not an easy fish to have success with. i attribute a lot of that to their acclimation and selection.

there really is no one-size-fits-all solution though. other places are better for clean up crew. premiumaquatics has been excellent for general livestock for me.

I got my LR from Dr.Mac"Pacific East Aquaculture" told them what I was looking for and they did a fantastic job. Also check out local reef clubs for someone selling LR
