Recommendation for aquarium and stand builders

Hello everyone,

Im in the market for a new reef setup. Im really inclined to buy a red sea reefer 170, but before i do, i want to see what else is available on the market. Ive also looked at SC aquariums and waterbox. Anyone have any experience with any of these brands? I like that these vendors have all in one systems and starfire aquariums with built in overflows. What i dont like is that it seems like the stands are made from MDF. I would rather get a stand built from solid wood or cabinet grade plywood.

What are other reputable manufacturers for a setup like this? Specifically i want a starfire tank 24in in lenght with built in overflow. How about any stand makers? Im open to buying the tank separate from SC aquariums and getting a custom stand built. I appreciate any help!

Crystal Dynamics also makes some nice tanks and can do nice wood stands as well. Or if you find a welded steel or aluminum stand and just need a skin around it... pm me I know a guy.

As Cody pointed out, it would be hard for you to find a better builder of custom stands than Crystal Dynamics. It would be helpful if you we knew where you were located, but Pasadena Tropical is a CDA dealer who can get this done for you.

I am near LAX.
I will check out crystal dynamics. I dont mind driving anywhere in the LA to pick up an aquarium/ stand.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I'm moving and located in San Diego, looking to step up from my homemade POS stand to a quality professional stand.

Any help would be appreciated. R&J and some of the big box stores aren't really what I'm looking for. I want some quality and good craftsmanship.

I actual stopped into SC Aquariums yesterday to get equipment and they were showing me pictures of their new stands, they looked nice and solid wood. They aren't on the website yet though.
I have a Crystal Dynamics stand, it's nice and solid too.

I am also looking for a new
Tank and have considered crystal dynamic but kind of on the fence about it after hear about them leaking only after a few years.
There's a member in here with a CD tank leaked just last year.

I have 2 CD tanks and stands, both 150g (60x24x24). One of them is 2.5 years old, the other 1.5 years old. Both look very solidly built and don't leak at all.
