Recommendations for WYSIWYG clams

I feel I am finally ready to add a clam to my tank. It will be either a squamosa, derasa or maybe a gigas ( will be upgrading to a 300g within 1 yr). I have looked at RC sponsors first. Are there any other places that do a good job w/ clams?

I'll second clamsdirect.com, I've bought almost a dozen clams from him and all of them are still alive and growing. Also, check out fragglereef.com and riptidesreef.com, both are great companies, I got a large neon teardrop from fragglereef.com back in the spring.

Really, a decent LFS. At least there you get to examine it for pests and health. Also, shipping on a large clam can be quite $$$ and you avoid this at the LFS. Clams are one of the few things I prefer to buy at an LFS.

Clams direct is great. Heres my clam, from them.

I liked this little guy so much i just ordered two more, another crocea and a maxima.
Just be sure to have small slates of rock, or empty clam shells to place your new clams on, because they can attach really soon after being placed on a rock, and this is a fairly permanent situation.

ps. Clam looked very similar to the pictures online.
But the color is blue'ish when you look at the clam through the glass of the tank. That picture was taken from the surface, and thats how most pictures of clams online are taken.
Colors like greens or blues may or may not look differen't. =/
But they are still beautiful and will have the same patterns no matter what, =D.

I guess clams direct takes the cake. Shipping a gigas is going to cost you hundreds, but if its worth it to you for the clam then go for it.

I don't think shipping a gigas will cost hundreds.
It may be double the average shipping, but not hundreds.
