Not sure that i understand how to use the recommended flow calculator.

Is a single mp10 enough flow for sps in a 36 x 12 x 24 45 gallon tank? If I'm understand the tool correctly, seems that 1 mp10 would be great for lps, while two would do it for sps?

It all depends on how high your run the thing and where you place them in the tank. That calculator is very basic. You may be able to have 1 MP10 but if its turned up to 100% you may start stirring sediment on the bottom of the tank creating a sandstorm.
