I got one of the cheap ones from great del on Ebay two months ago.
At first it was giving me very good readings (agreed with other AC Jr).
This week it started giving me funny readings. It was showing 7.65 on the 210g. My other AC jr on the 75 was showing 8.2.
I calibrated it (twice) with 7.0 and 10.0 solutions.
The calibration went OK, but it still read too low in the tank.
To sanity check, I put it back in the 7.0 and it read 7.04, in the 10.0 it read 10.0.
I put it in the tank and it was back to 7.70.
I checked the pH with a handheld meter and it read 8.1.
I believe the probe is suspect since my other two probes agree within a tenth.
How can a probe calibrate correctly, but give suspect readings in salt water?
The probe on my other Ac Jr is a pinpoint. It is 2 years old and still gives good readings.
Standard grade probes usually have a degree of accuracy of +- .1
Lab grade probes usually have a degree of accuracy of +- .01
I have always used standard grade.
