recommended pumps for 90RR sps/lps

ok, i have a 90 sps/lps that's doing ok, but i'm reworking my flow.

i have a wavysea CL on a 900 gph eheim mounted on the center brace, doing a 360, and a mag 7 on the return, split.

i'm looking to get some tunze pumps, but i want to make sure i get what is appropriate for my application.

what would you suggest? i do have a sandbed, caribsea standard aragonite (not sugar grain, but not CC either)... about 2", mostly for aesthetics and some sand critters. i don't want that to blow away.

i'm not sure if the nanos are enough, or if i need to go with the normal streams. any advice would be great.

right now i have good color and decent polyp extension, but i just feel like i'm not getting enough flow.

thank you!

I'm using two 6000's on a 7095 controller on my 79G and love it. I do have about 2-3 inches on sugar grade sand. I just started the pumps off low and gradually increase and the sandbed settled.

I have a tunze turbelle stream 6100 and a mag 9 return pump on my 90. Seems to be doing a great job. I have almost all sps.
I like the nanos though. Adding two to the tank would probably work good. But then again, how many pumps do you want to look at inside your tank. And how many do you want to clean.

How do you like your wavysea? I have really been thinking about getting one after xmas.
Any problems on hanging it on your perfect tank. I can't use the middle bar because of my lighting, but could it hang easily on the back corner?

i love the wavysea. the only drawback is after a poweroutage, you have to reprogram it, which takes about 2 minutes. that's kind of annoying.

it'll hang on the outside just fine. i had to mod the center brace slightly to get it on there.

ok...

so, like 2 6000s and the wavysea ought to do it, and i'd still be able to keep sand? that'd be awesome!

if i have 2 pumps, that's fine. maintenance isn't a big deal for me... part of the fun. i'd rather clean a pump than pick up dog poo. :)

I have sand and it has not given me a problem. You don't have anything to worry about.

2 nano 6055 with a multicontroler might work much better. The nanos are really cool because there seems like more options. There is already a magnetic holder, and I think they turn in all directions.

I would get the 6000's and a 7095, the 6055 won't be out until January, not sure what availability will be like. Those would work but the advantage of the 6000 is they are upgradable to 6100's later.

thanks roger... the two 6000s shouldn't blow the sand around? I'm probably only going to have about an inch or so, just for looks.

They might but you can position them and turn down the flow to help minimize this problem.
