All,
I have not posted much recently because of issues with my system. The good news is it feels like I've turned a corner thanks to the Reef Whisperer (o2manyfish).
I was losing corals (and in fact lost quite a few corals) and continuing to battle GHA. The water parameters were fine. I convinced myself I must have picked up an STD but I could not really find anything.
One day I described what was happening to Dave. He asked a few questions and then told me my water was too clean and to
- cut the fish feeding to 3x a day
- cut the skimming to only when the lights are off
- alter the light spectrum to include some time with the lights at 20k
- slowly increase the my lighting by 10% (I was running my Radions at 60%).
At the point when Dave gave me this advice I had already lost a Jedi Mind Trick frag he had given me and a Leng Sy cap colony that I had grown from a frag (again from Dave) was on it's last legs.
This is picture of the Leng Sy in the process of recovering. These really are remarkable animals.
