I just recently changed my lights out again and am looking for a place to recycle my t-5 lightbulbs. But then it occured to me that I don't even know if t-5's contain mercury and if they dont is it necessary to recycle them? If i should recycle them I live in Warren, MI and was wondering if there was any place locally (less than 10 miles) that anyone knows that could do this. Thanks.

all flourescent and Metal Halide bulbs contain mercury. the amount has been reduced over the years with better design and better ballasts, but on the other hand, we use more bulbs . so a lot of mercury in a few bulbs is just as bad as a little mercury in a lot of bulbs if tossed into land fills. most states and counties have some sort of hazardous waste disposal and recycling program. do some searching for their website. My county has free hazardous houshold waste collection days 5 or 6 times a year. just drop them off. the glass, metal and mercury can all be recycled.

Well, here you go. i found the place for you to look in Michigan, in just a minute. use the drop down menu's.
