whats the best way to manage red algae ?

What kind of alga, and do you what it to grow or stop it ?

Cyanobacteria builds up in areas with inadequate flow. Add more flow or adjust what you have now to hit those areas where the cyano is growing. When I had this problem, I scooped it out from time to time and with the added flow, the problem eventually went away.

Siphon out the cyano and add fresh carbon. Worked for me. A lot of times if you adjust the flow to blow it away it, you will just be spreading it around.
