Red bubble algae control in SH tank

I've been doing battle with red bubble algae in my SH tank for a while now and it's winning.

First my LFS recommended I use red slime remover. It killed one of my SH's. I did a 90% water change, cleaned the filters and was able to save my other SH.

Next I've been taking the rocks out one by one and putting them in my 150 for a few days. My rabbit fish and urchin make short work of the algae and clean the rocks until they are almost white. Unfortunately it's reproducing faster than I can have the rocks cleaned. I've thought about taking all of the rock out for a few days, but don't know if the tank would suffer.

My SH tank is too small for a rabbit fish and I don't feel safe putting an urchin in. I've read warning about emerald crabs with SHs so I'm afraid to risk it. What is a safe way to rid myself of the red bubble algae?

You need to figure out why you have the problem (chemistry-wise), as the algae is likely a symptom.

One thing you can do if you already aren't doing so is to rinse your thawed mysis under the tap in a small net till the water runs clear. "Mysis juice" is FULL of nutrients that your SH can't use but nuisance algae LOVES.
