red bug?

If you mean the tiny red dots under the center/left branch, then i think I'm gonna have a hard time spotting them...thats really small. Maybe it would be easier to look for symptoms from the frag itself. What would happen to a frag if it got red-bugs?
 
They are extremely small, if you don't have 20/20 vision you will have a hard time spotting them unless you have a magnifying glass you can use. I just watched my coral for a while and you can actually see them move around...
 
I have a question regarding these too. I saw some small red bugs eating the film on my front glass. I have looked at the corals and did not see any of them there ... do they like a particular kind of coral ... acro vs montipora or just any type?

They seem to like certan acros, and if you have a number of corals usually you see a large amount of them on a couple of corals, and few to none on others. If your bugs are on the glass I would tend to think that they are something else.

also look for little yellow spots inbetween the coralites, many times they appear dark yellow from a distance.

Appears it could also just be paranoia setting in as well. What I saw on the glass was a completely red bug on the underside and a round-like shape. Like I said, they appeared to be eating the algae film on my glass, and I did not see them on the actual coral that I was looking at (an acro) ... but I'll keep looking.
 
Can someone point me to a page that has the spec's for tank treatment. I did it last year and have no problems now -- but-- I have found a Vet that will precribe it for us locals that my get them. He just wan't more info :)
 
Thanks for the close-up photo's ... that's not what I saw. I am going for dipping or QT from now on!

I have some red pods that hang out on the glass. They are usually in mass numbers when i see them (solid burgundy in color). Never noticed any issues with them.
 
Also, red flatworms love the algae film on the glass. If they move quick and look like an upside down V, then they are probably flatworms. Keep in mind, these are NOT the acro eating flatworms.
 
Oh, I've got AEFW's, too, but those look much different. You can fairly easily get rid of red bugs (with few side effects). The AEFW's are another story. Check out the thread by Bigred on AEFW's in a Bowl test time. There are some great macro shots. Though they are clear, size (and shape) are much different from the red bugs. I've seen them in the treatment tank from 1/16" ellipses to almost 1/4" ellipses. No need for a magnifying glass on those nasties.
 
gflat65 - That's what I believe they were - just some burgundy pods. There were quite a few of them as well ... I was just concerned as I had not noticed them in the past.
