Red Bugs and anemones

I think I saw something that looks like these red bugs that I found on the internet on a few of my rocks. They run around the rock like ants except much smaller. Is there any ill effect that they may have on my BTA? Also, is the interceptor dosing the only ammunition that I can use against them or is there a biological way to get rid of them like a predator?

If you don't have SPS corals, you don't have red bugs. They are specific parasites and have a fairly short life cycle - along the lines of one week without SPS in your tank and you won't have red bugs, even if you had them before.

And yes, interceptor is the chemical of choice as it is very effective against the red bugs and doesn't destroy the corals. Nothing else has been found with those two desirable characteristics.

FWIW,
Kevin

I don't have these types of corals. I have some mushrooms and a very small colony of zoos, but if not red bugs then what are they. they run around like ants all over the really coraline covered rocks. What do you think they are? They are so microscopic and it looks like that one end of them is red. May be I need my eyes checked. But do you have any ideas on these little creatures.

It sounds like you are describing a harmless type of pod. There is a company that sells a similar live food under the name tigger pods.
