Red bugs and interceptor treatment?

Another question on the dosing....

I have approx. 90 gallons in my setup. Does that mean I need to dose a 1/4 of the pill each treatment 3 times? For instance...dose the first 1/4 of the pill this saturday, a second 1/4 of the pill next saturday, and another 1/4 of the pill on the third saturday? So, at the end I will have used 3/4 of the pill?

I have access to a very good scale so I ground up the interceptor into a very fine powder and weighed out the mass I needed based on the current theory of .0025g per 1 gallon of sea water. Then I dissolved it in a shot glass with tank water and added it to the tank, with skimmer venturi off for about 8 hours. I then did a 40% W/C and ran carbon for 48hours. I also did FWE for the last ~45 minutes of the interceptor treatment.

FWE=Flat Worm Exit. Made by salifert. Worked great, during the treatment I had a few Flatworms floating around that my CB angel ate then. For carbon I had a 6X12" bag that I filled half way and placed it in my sump.

If you dont have access to a good scale, yes you probably should use the pill in thirds. In my case I have enough for 5 treatments and one half treatment. I just felt more comfortable getting an accurate mass before putting it in.

What is interceptor and where can you get it?

You need to order it online. I luckily got mine from a local guy who already had some. I think you can get it from Canada also (online). Google it and Im sure you will find it.

I wish I had a scale that could measure that low but I dont. Dont know where I could use one either. Im just gonna eyeball it. I plan on using a 1/4 of the pill each treatment for 3 weeks of treating. I have a 90 gallon tank.

I got mine by going to the veterinarian and telling them exactly what it was for. Make sure you buy the pills for the large dogs(51-100 lbs.) They were more than happy to make $9 per pill off of me and they were a bit curious as to its use in a saltwater tank. Worked fine and 6 hours after I did my first treatment there were no red bugs. Will do my 2nd treatment this weekend for another 6 hours and a 25% water change. I am not using carbon because I don't have any but I see no ill side affects.
