red bugs help!

3 pm caught blood shrimp and moved him to safer waters. not sure if he will live. coral band shrimp looks good.
3:15 turned on carbon reactor and complete a 20% water change. trying to save coral banded shrimp. they look good but no see no need to leave medication in tank longer.

Crap, I lost 2 frags two weeks ago. Then another start to RTN yesterday. I looked carefully and close enough that my eyes started to crosseye. I can see tiny specs of red yellow pods running around â€"œ “red bugs”. Lucky I just went to the vet and picked up a yr supply of Interceptor for my dog. I have the 5.75 mg dose which normally is a 23mg pill. The 23mg pill should treat 380g. 5.75mg should treat 66g. I put all my acro frags(24) in my 20g frag tank ( 10g of water ) and cut the circulation to the main tank. Then crush a ¼ pill about ( about 2x dose ). Left them there since yesterday night. Looks good. Don’t want to dose the main display or it will kill all the pods, shrimps and crabs. Hope the rest of the bugs starve in about a couple of weeks to see if that works. Trying to figure where they came from. I haven’t introduced a new frag since the June when I bought all these frags which I did a betadyne dip. I think I will Q all new frags going forward with Interceptor. Maybe hitchhiker on the turbo snail I bought 3 weeks ago ? or fish ? I'm scratching my head at a loss where they came from.

Red bugs can come in on any piece of rock or coral. The red bugs left in your tank should be dead in a week as long as you got 100% of the acropora out. Also, it is likely that there is another problem in your tank. The red bugs usually do not make a coral RTN. Red bugs will affect the polyp extension and color, but it is usually a gradual thing, not overnight like RTN.
