Red bugs here

Well Wednesday morning I found red bugs on one of my tricolor frags. I didn't see it on any other acro, just the tricolor. So that same morning I dosed the hole tank with a half pill of Intercepter and will do it again in a week, I will be doing 3-4 treatments, each a week apart. My Fire shrimp and a few hermits died from the treatment.
Now I want to say this is my fought I have red bugs, not anyone else. I don't know who they came from and I don't care because my tank is my responsiblity. I usaully dip my frags when I buy them, but there have been times were, I trusted the tank they came from and I didn't dip them. So again my fought I have red bugs. I have only had been collecting acros for the past 6 months, and have Not sold any, but I have sold several zoa frags and I don't know if red bugs will hitchhike on them. So please everyone check your tanks and beware red bugs are local.
Here is some information on them

Been there brother. Fortunately they're treatable. Unfortunately, I have also had casualties along the way (2 cleaner shrimp and a dozen peppermints). Dipping new arrivals def. goes a long way.

Prior to placing a coral into your system, you should always use a product like kent marine tech-d for sps, when you are finished acclimating and ready to place the coral in the system, you add the product like tech-d to your bag or container with the coral, stirr and let sit for a few minutes, then grab your coral, rinse it in some tank water in another container then place into your display tank.

who's got a dog I can borrow to get some interceptor if I need any? It seems that you need a vet to get this product, so how else can you treat for red bug if you have it? Still a bit confused with all this quarantine thingy, when some of the medications you need require proper prescription. I had to use lemavisole a while ago, but need to get them from a friend as I could not purchase anywhere.

You may be able to take an article into a vet and show them the treatment procedure. Interceptor is the only thing I know that will kill red bugs. Melev has an in depth dipping/QT procedure on his website which consists of multiple dips as well as an interceptor bath before the coral even makes it into the display.

Once I get room for an additional setup like his, I plan on switching to his procedure. Right now, setting up and breaking down a small tank every time I add something is out of the question.

Just call around and be honest with your intentions. I have found that vets will work with you as long as you are upfront.
