Red bugs worth the trouble?

No scientific method, i just wanted to start low to prevent any adverse reactions. I could always add more if needed. 3 hours later, all red bugs were dead. 8oz bottle makes 2.5 gallons of dip, not that it treats 2.5 gallons if thats where the question was going. I have a whole bottle left over for any future uses. All my sps showed crazy polyp extension during treatment and my tank was extremely happy after the treatment. Try it, it will work. Hope that helps.

Why can't you guys be safe and use interceptor? Who knows what else is in that coral dip, does it smell funny like revive or coral Rx?

Ingredients are on the bottle piper....basically a liquified interceptor tab. The guy who used Dr. G's originally called the manufacturer to verify the contents. But use whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Depending on the amount of vitamin c used in the bottle, it could be the reason they say not to use it in your tank since too much can be harmful in a reef. Or benefit a reef if a small dose.

Again, ingredients are on the bottle and there isnt any vitamin c in there that is listed. The dip uses the chemical that is in interceptor to rid the parasites...its nothing like coralrx.

Just bear in mind that using small doses can select for specimens that have resistance to a given treatment. Look at how diseases become resistant to antibiotics.

That sounds plausible breadman....my treatment is done and was successful and just wanted to share with others. Please go with what you feel is right.

Quote from Dr g's website.

"Please note that Dr.G's does not recommend the use of this product directly into any Aquarium system.

Ingredients: Milbemcyn oxime, Vitamin C, and RO/DI Water. "

The website says it's got vitamin c in it, and I understand it's not like coral Rx.

The bottle doesnt show vit c, only that its a proprietary blend. The guy that called the manufacturer didnt mention that in the ingredients either. The only reason for my posts were to help others and what worked for me as well as others that followed his advice. I dont think any chemical you put in your tank is 100% safe. I apologize if something I said came out wrong, But i see that im hitting a nerve here with what worked for me, so i will stop adding to this thread.

Yeah.. I can see this thread is going down the wrong road like so many others. I'll just keep my results to myself. I'm done with the thread also.

I was just trying to learn about the product. Glad there is an option for people who can't go to a vet and get interceptor. Only reason I mentioned the vitamin c is because it could cause problems if too much is added at once. But I would guess there is only small amounts in the dip. No need for people to bail out of the thread. I was just asking questions about the product because I found it interesting, not sure why you think you hit a nerve? I was not trying to discredit anything, if that's how you took it.

I do find it odd it would kill aefw if it's basically interceptor. Anyone test it on aefw as a dip? That would be great! Also is it clear so you can see what's dead? That's what I hate about Bayer, hard to see through the milky solution.

I never had great luck using Bayer to kill red bugs. Bayer works better on removing AEFWs from coral then most dips only because it seems to be less harmfull to the coral itself and dosage matters little. Bayer does not kill AEFWs as fast as the a dip though.

As far as red bugs go intercepter is easy on coral and fish. The dosage matters little as 2-3x the recommended dose has no ill effects on anything. It is also the best I have found to completly rid a system of said pests. Interceptor is useless against AEFWs. And for what its worth you dont need visit a vet to get interceptor.

This is all my experience as well! Well put. In my case it was easier for me to get interceptor from the local vet. He didn't even want a visit payment and I got as many boxes as I needed.

Just to clarify I don't have Redbugs. I was just curious about the dr g dip and wanted to give my experience prior to that.

You have a good vet. Most have no idea what we are trying to accomplish with interceptor.

tagging along. Need to rid my tank. All frags mounted in so individual dips not an option without a tank breakdown. Likely same for trying to get my cleaner shrimps out, :(
When using the inteceptor tabs, what is the dosage people have used? I might still have some at home from the dog, else I will probably try the Dr. G's.
