any new treatments for red bugs that wont kill all shrimp, crabs, and pods in the tank? Do they only affect acros? will they bug my montiporas?

I have found tropic marin pro coral cure to kill rb's and acro flatworms however it is a DIP only.So for a whole tank solution NO.

So would a removal and dip work now or are they here to stay once introduced to the tank? How bad are they do they kill acros or just irritate them?

i have them too, im following along
i dont want to have to go through the interceptor process
i have 2 colonies i have noticed with red bugs on them, if at all possible, i would like my first step to just take those 2 out, quarantine and treat them. then put em back in.

Unfortunately you need to treat the whole tank unless you want to get rid of all your acro's, wait a week or two and reintroduce new, unaffected acro's.

you got it reefpimp, thats my problem too

Will flatworm exit do anything? Someone has mentioned that product to me for this problem.

as long as there is no sps tissue left anywhere and your corals are treated numerous times while in qt it can be possible IMO

no fresh water dips won't work . You will end up with lots of white skeletons.

You need to treat with interceptor .

can I dip with it or any thing else them add them to a different tank? and what about montiporas? I have plating and digitatas

You could dip them with tropic marin pro coral cure if you can get it .

I have removed both acro eating flatworms and red bugs from acros . However it will kill sps crabs. I havent dipped montis or digi's with it yet.

I have the same problem, my plan is to pull out ALL my acro's (easy for me, mostly frags) and treat in a Q-tank. Interceptor, 3 treatments, 21 days total. According to that linK from Eric B, the bugs will not touch anything but the acro's, and all bugs, without food, died in 5 days. I do not know about the eggs or larvae though...obviously more studies need to be done on these pests.
I just can't see killing all the pods, live mysis, crabs, etc etc I have in my tank, too much hard work to create all this diversity not to try the q-tank treatment. After all, I have searched this forum and others and really have not seen any threads detailing coral death attributed to these bugs..?? I'm not saying they are harmless, just maybe not as bad as we may think....anyhow, just my 2 cents!!

Just for imformation puroses, I treated my tank with double the recomended dosage of 25mg per 10 gallons. I treated with 45mg per 10 gallons of water capacity. You need to remember to include skimmer volume, sump volume, and pipe volume when calculating your tanks volume. And my shrimp are still alive(two skunk cleaner, and one peppermint) I looked last night and there are pods still everywhere. And it was the first treatment but I will be stepping down the dosage to recommended for the next three treatments. Just remember to run lots of carbon after the treatment and do a large water change after 7-8 hours. IMO treating the whole tank is really the only way to do it right in my case. I have a few large colonies and all my frags are epoxied to rocks. so I had to treat the whole tank.
