Red bugs?

Hello fellow reefers, I just found these yellow pods with red dots on them all over my acros, particularily on this yellow acro. Most of my acros have less polyp extension and some have lost some of their color. Are these red bugs? And what can I do to get rid of these? Thanks for all your help in advance.

Looks like red bugs. You'll need to battle them with Interceptor. Lots of info on RC regarding Interceptor and red bugs.

They also attack smooth acros mainly, but you will need to either treat your whole tank or take all of your acros out and treat them separately. good luck.
 
Ouch. Those are a PITA. I've read that an iodine dip like lugols will help but I have also found conflicting evidence in case studies on RC in which some ppls red bugs are resistant to such treatments. Someone also posted in the sps forum about trying levamisole as an alternative treatment option but that requires you to have a separate hospital tank.
 
Wow. You have the reef herp, bad. I had red bugs and lost a couple colonies before I realized it, but they were never that thick. I never treated, but they are selective in their hosting so I think they just starved out. Haven't spotted them in a good year or so.

Not such a PITA, just treat the whole tank with interceptor. One of the easier pest to deal with
 
Thanks again guys for all your help!!!! wish i new about reefcentral when i started out 4 years ago. would have saved me from a lot of heartache and grief but colored sticks make it all worthwhile! Reefcentral rocks! and so do the bears! :)
 
BTW you didn't just find them cuz on the 15th you posted that you bought dragonnetes and a pipe fish to eat red bugs!
 
"just found these" is relative. I had them longer but i wasn't sure if they were redbugs or not so i thought buying the pipefish would help control these pods/redbugs

pipefish eat red bugs right? they didnt. I figured they weren't. I could have been wrong about id, no? Btw, revive isnt only for red bugs.
