Red Bugs!!!

Yesterday I was looking at my Dad's tank and taking some pics, upon further zoom I noticed he had some red dots in the pics... I went over to his tank and started looking, one of his Acro's has red bugs... What do I need to do? Can I treat just the one coral, or do I need to treat the whole tank? We are planning on breaking down the tank to make room for his 125 over the next few months but I need to treat this first right? He's not concerned with his clean up crew, we'll get what we can out, but I'm mostly concerned with his shrimp... Is that all that will be affected by the red bug treatment? How does the treatment work? Where can I get it?

interceptor is a vet prescribed treatment. You might be able to buy it online via petmeds.com. From what I have read about it, all your inverts will be killed off. Coreefer was telling me that red bugs only infect Acros so if you just have the one, I would treat it separate from the rest of the tank.

Well he's got multiple Acros in the tank, but no others look infected... How quickly does it spread and how does it spread? Anyone doing a treatment I can throw this one acro in with it?

Thanks Murph!!! Sounds like I need to treat the entire system... Now to figure out how to trap all his shrimp. :)

LOL!!! No, I don't think that will work for shrimp. :) Anyone have a mg scale or have an easy method to measure 25mg/10 gallons?

Just to let you know, my cleaner and coral banded survived 2 treatments. A total of 6 doses. About wiped out my hermits though.

I dosed 1/4 pill per dose on my system. So thats 3/4 pill per treatment. I was not exact on the cuts. No need for a scale.

Cool, thanks Russ... Just let me know when your avail, and let me know if you're wife is cool about Da Vinci :D

How visible were they to the naked eye?

Not very, I had to use a magnifying glass to see mine, I found them the same way with a micro shot of a coral
they look like a pinhead moving fast across the coral

I could see them, but I've got great vision, my dad could only see them using a macro shot w/ a camera... They are smaller than the tip of a pin, but red on green really shows up to me. :)
