Red Bugs

I wanted to know if anyone here know how long red bugs can last without an acro in the tank.

Found a few on some pieces and wanted to check how long they can last without a host.

Be sure to verify this, but I think E. Borneman's research suggests that they only live about 5-6 days without coral in the tank.

The ENTIRE system has to be treated. There could be bugs or bug larvae anywhere in your system.-?????

i was thinking of treating but disconnecting the fuge during the treatment to prevent me from loosing the pods etc. Just needed to know how long i have to leave it disconnected to make sure its red bugless.

So if i keep it off the main system for 8 or so days any bugs in there should have died and then the interceptor should knock out any in the main display correct?

Also what experiances have you guys had treating your whole system for it? Any longterm effects etc?

Ray, you could disconnect your fuge for 6-8 days and you would be fine. Just make sure you have absolutely no acro tissue in your fuge at all. I haven't experienced any long term effects at all.

sweet, i wanted to keep the life i already have since my fuge is very active, only thing in there is cheato and some LR, no acro or anyother coral tissue.

I think red bugs are live bearers, i don't think there is a larvae state

anyone in the miami area have 2 pills i could buy, i am losing an ORA Stylo and the order i placed yesturday wont be here till next week monday.

Stylos are not affected by red bugs.

Hmm then im not sure what the hell is wrong with it, just started receeding one day to the next no warning. i still wanna treat for the bugs since ive notice some color loss on my tricolor.
