red bugs?

I just noticed I might have red bugs on my acros. They don't appear to be killing the colonies, but I was wondering if people treat it right away with interceptor.

If so were do you get it from? Are there any other options. I don't like to put medications in the tank if I don't have too.

Suggestions/opinons...

Youll want to treat immediately, the only real concern with Interceptor would be crabs and shrimp, though they will sometimes make it. I would suggest removing any that you want to keep. Otherwise, it is a fairly safe treatment, trust me, Ive had to do it a few times. If you cant find any Interceptor, contact me, I should have enough if you dont have a really large tank and if I can find it:)

Interceptor is a very safe treatment. I set up a 10G tank for my shrimp and crabs.
Added a couple pieces of LR that didn't have any acro on it tp keep a colony of pods.

BOMBED the display tank with interceptor. I think I was at 3 or 4 times the Dorton dosage. Didn't do the water change in between doses. Bombed the tank again didn't run the carbon for a few weeks afterward. Wanted to make damn sure those bugs were dead. After a couple weeks did a water change added carbon let it run a few day to make sure the interceptor was out of the system then added the crabs, shrimp, and pods.

What I am trying to say is my treatment was an overdose compared to the Dorton dose and the tank didn't cycle or do anything squirrelly.

As far as getting the Interceptor. Honesty is the best policy. Print out the Boreman info and take it to the Vet and explain the situation. The only time the vet techs were unsure about selling it was went I was trying be sneaky about it.

Once I explained myself her exact words were "As long as you don't give it to a dog we don't care what you do with it."

Same experience here. I showed them documentation from the net and they set up a patient name as Billy's Reef and I get it when I need it with no hassles at all.

Must be nice, at least now I know some more people who can get it. I tried that with our vet, they didnt even want to look at anything even after I explained it all, oh well.

Same here with my Vet in AZ. After I explained what I was doing with it and showed them a picture of my reef they not only gave me the Interceptor, I spent anther half and hour talking to the Vet about my tank. They even put the picture on the bulletin board showcasing customers "pets"

Holy crap look what the cat drug in.

Thats what I got as well, a lot of questions, is that really alive, I thought coral were rocks, etc.

Allen if you ever need any let me know. I generally keep some at the house to treat new stuff with, and can always swing by there to pick up more if needed.

Thanks for the interceptor Coralfreak!

I did the treatment last night and I am shocked at the difference it makes. The polyp extension on the acros today is amazing. My cleaner shrimp even survived the treatment.

Glad to hear it, make sure to do your last two treatments. Also be sure to treat any new acros so you can keep them out for good.
