Red coco worm hiding with dosing

So I have had a red coco worm for about two months now and have recently upped how many corals I have in my tank. Therefore I have switched from the all in one salifert coral food to separate calcium, strontium, magnesium, and iodine. The only problem is that for two days after I dose the tank the coco worm retracts into its shell. Today I dosed iodine, calcium, and strontium and it closed up for the whole day today. Anyone else have any experience with this? Anyone have any idea what is causing this? Thanks : )

It's not necessary to dose iodine as regular water changes will take care of that. Strontium as well. Do you test your calcium and mag levels regularly?

hmmm interestng about the iodine. I do weekly 17% water changes yet when i test for iodine/iodate and strontium it comes up close to 0. Thats why I add the iodine and strontium. I haven't checked my mag levels i try to keep my calcium levels between 420-450ppm. I still need to get a magnesium test kit though, probably going to get that today. How do you think that could effect it?

Do you test pH, alk, ammonia?

pH hovers around 8.2 and 8.4, ammonia is 0 (as with nitrites and nitrates), and I don't test for alk because I thought I would never have a problem with that with my frequent water changes. I don't have any algae problems either.

More than likely not dosing iodine and strontium won't do any harm or any good either way. Try not dosing either one and see what happens.

My only concern with that is that I have Pulsing Xenias that thrive on iodine...quite the dilemma.
