Red Coco worm

I have a red coco worm that apparently lost its feather heads this weekend. I found the feather heads lying on the bottom of the tank.. It looks like they are alive so I moved them to the refugium to protect them. Has anyone ever had something like this happen to one of their feather duster worms?

Do you mean that all the feathery things fell off? I have never experienced this, but the detached feathers will not survive, my critters have munched off of it, the feather will move, but will die in a day or two.

I've lost the heads of my 2 several times, and they have grown new ones. If you see any of the pink or part of the animal, it's in there and they can sprout new ones in the hard tube in a few weeks. I wouldn't give up, and make sure the end of the tube has access to a little bit of current. I've squirted a little filter-feeder food into the tube, just in case it's helping it, but I'm not sure.

Yep thats exactly what happened. The feather heads are detached. I think they are now dead in the refugium where I placed them. I'll remove them completely. The coco worm in the tube is pink and its moved back now deep inside the tube. Hopefully it will sprout more heads.
