Red coming out of gill on clownfish

Hi,

I am hoping that someone can help me. My clownfish has some red (gill?) coming out of the side. It's bubble like. (Only on one side, and my other clownfish is fine).

She is still eating a lot and swimming around and otherwise acting normally (maybe breathing a bit faster).

This started up a couple of weeks ago, though not nearly this bad. It was much smaller and less red until yesterday.

Is there someway I can treat this?

Thank you!

geez you know I had the same thing happen to a black clown fish a couple months ago. it was red then became white then just disappeared after a couple weeks watching it. I didn't do anything. I have always wondered what it was

Could be brooklynella which is a parasite ... Could be gill disease which is an inflammation caused by bacteria or fungus in the aquarium. If he had parasites he would be scratching though if he isn't maybe try an antiseptic agent or wide range antibiotic. And water changes. Better in a qt tank . Because antibiotics will kill also good bacterias and you'll have to cycle your tank again.

It's for sure not brook.
It could be Lymphocystis or a cancerous growth. Unless you are able to do a biopsy only time will tell.

I agree it is definitely not brook. Cancer does seem possible but I have never seen anything approaching this except as an injury.

Tumours tend to be pretty hard to the touch , I once removed one from the head of a bloody parrot.
If it is quite firm ( a bit like a living sponge) cancer works....If it's soft'ish' infection would make sense!

I agree that would be a good test. If I had to guess, I would go with infection after an injury.

It does look kinda soft-ish and its kinda flappy. No new fish or corals have been added before this started, and it doesn't seem like it bothers her. I just don't want to lose her since I <3 her! (mean little fish that she is)

The redness has gone down a little bit, and the bubble-ness as well, but its still sticking out her side, noticeably.

Anyone know if this can be treated? If so, with what?
