Hi,
I just picked up this frag that is called a Red Dragon.
I have been researching and so far I have found that it actually likes lower light and also lower flow.

Can anyone that has this coral in their tank confirm that this is correct ?
Can you share your experience with this coral ?

Thanks,
Cam

I have it. def likes lower light to get deeper color.

but as long as I am on the subject..........

I paid top dollar for this thing and really have been overall quite unimpressed. Worth 50.00? maaaaaaybe. But in no way do i feel it was worth what i paid for it. It's a pink/light red bottlebrush. That's it.

Sorry for the rant but being an actual owner of one of these I think they need to be brought down from there "Grail" status. I couldn't with a straight face ask for 300.00 for an inch of this thing

sweet coral? by all means

worth these current asking prices? not even close. My opinion

+1

I agree with your post completely. I saw a frag of this in person, and while it was nice, it was nowhere close to being $300+ for a small frag. The color was more of a hot pink than actual red; it's description is misleading. I will patiently wait until people start fragging this more and prices come down.

Ok, so I have it down lower in my tank and it's in an area that has less flow.

I am curious on what kind of growth you are getting from it ?

Thanks

i agree this acro is way overpriced, but then again the site i have seen it on is overpriced on everything.it is a nice looking acro but certainly not worth more than $50/frag.

So Adam got a frag for me for $50:lol2:

yea not a $300 frag....but if people are buying it thats why the price is where its at.... imo.. i have a small frag but didnt pay that much for it.. i have it low light and is red..

I agree on teh price also, i have tried to get a piece but aint gonna spend $300/inch for it. Look at the price of the ICEFIRE it has gone down like the economy. I do wish i could buy 2+"s or so.

congratz on the pickup.

Can you share what LFS you picked it up from.

Sweet Ride,
Absolutly, I will PM you the info, as I am not sure if it violates Reef Central's rules to post the name of the store...

It's probably from reef raft, the store that the coral originated from (if you looks for the lineage, they all come back to Jay/Jensen).

It's actually a pretty nice coral. I certainly wouldn't shell out $300 for a 1" piece of it, but at the prices they're available to us, it's certainly a nice one.

For once, a "named" coral is cheaper in Canada - I think a 2" frag can be had here for as little as $75 - $100.

No not Reef Raft, as a matter of fact I have never been in that store, just found out about it a few days ago while researching this coral, apperently thier is some ties to this coral and Reef Raft, but not sure how. I bet I have probably driven past Reef Raft a hundred times and didn't know about it..... I plan on visiting next week to check it out as I work in Mississauga.

mine likes low light with pretty high flow. the flow was the only way i could manage to get good pe on this coral.

I am going to bow out of this one. I had no intention of derailing Bayliners thread. I may have a chip for overpriced coral in general but here is not the place to rant about it.
