Red Dragon Growth

I have a really dumb question.

Is the "Red Dragon" a.awi, a.echinata, a.turaki or something else?

Also normally you see them in tan, brown or a kinda green. How did this species become bright red?

Scott
I stand corrected. could be a tenella from indonesia not the micronesian or png. If you see the same coral from all 3 different areas they look way different. some corals share many characteristics but may have one or more distinguishing characteristic that separates their classification and vice versa which makes it so difficult to id.

Definitely not tenella. I have both in my tank, and mine is from Bali which looks just like the ones from Micronesia.

edit:defiantly may be a bit strong. I will amend and say I am highly skeptical.

I don't want to hijack the thread by showing you why i think this red dragon is a indonesian tenella with key photos but I will be creating a new thread later showing mine (different colored) and explaining why I believe it is so unless chris doesn't mind. do you have all of 250g's colony pics saved on your computer like I do? lol

No I don't have any of chris's pics. I have red dragon in my tank, and I have a Tenella in my tank. They are very different side by side imop, but I'll join you in the other thread.

@Mammothreefer~ You can also get the pics I posted on an earlier thread that you commented on. its neither purple or red.

this is my steezy's red bugged dragon limited edition from tony himself. hang on to this pic as well. pic quality is bad but it shows the detail very well

agreed on that. wondering when the market for red dragons will be flooded to bring the price down. you can blame the red dragon hoarders. lol

I see where you are coming from, but this is another one of those "veron" things that I'm not sure I agree with (like spathula and millis) Seems to me we have 2 different corals with the same id. Tenella seems like the 2 different tenella ID are very different. Notice how all the living pictures skeletal/corallite structure is VERY different from all the DEAD pictures skeletal/corallite structure.. Gotta wonder if they got things mixed up every once in a while.

here is a local reefer buddies red dragon (I took the picture). Great coloration on his.....mine not so much. I dont know what to do with this coral, does it like high-med-low light and flow?

I've got mine in medium / high light - medium / low flow. I get that colour but slow growth still for me.
