it would be fine just put him in there and if you see him fighting with anything just take a pop bottel and put some food in there and leave it in your tank for the night then he will go in there and take him out he should be ok thow good luck

If it's Mithrax forceps, sometimes they are reef safe, but less so than true emerald crabs. It doesn't look like Mithrax forceps to me, but colors and patterns usually aren't very useful for crab identification.

thats will be okay it wont do any harm to your tank but that is not a emerald crab. that crab right there is Porcelain Crab or also known as a anemone crab but thats a nice grab

looks like Mithrax forceps, i think they are reef safe

nevermind it is a Porcelain Crab

What did you pay for him?

Those guys are 17 here and the emeralds are 8 so if you bought hime for the price of an emerald that is not a bad deal.

I think those are cool dudes but I dont want to get one for my tank as I am sure it will bother the heck out of my anemone.

i paid the price of a emerald there, i think it was $9
i dont have a anemone for him to bother, he wont mess with frogspawn or avelopora would he?

they had several of them, said the suppliers were telling them they were red emeralds. wasnt a lfs chain, just a local shop

I had one for about five years. They do not come out much but they are filter feeders and will not bother your fish or corals.

Mine is out all the time. The only time he gets angry is when my Sixline tries to steal food from him. He waves his claws in the air and Mr. Sixline runs away haha.

It's really fun watching them eat. They have two "mitts" that they open up and grab food from the water column.
