Red Fairy Wrasse....Anyone have one?

I picked up a beautiful Red Fairy Wrasse today and since acclimating him and releasing him he has just sat in a hole in some Live Rock and not moved. His colors are way off from what they were at the store but still the same as when he was in the bag. He turns around occasionaly in the hole and his eyes are always looking all around. He is not breathing hard or showing any other sign of stress.

Is this normal for these type of fish? Are they shy? I wanted something colorful to add to my tank and these were recommended to me.

I just hope I didn't get another shy fish that hides all the time. I have enough of those.

Yeah, I'm starting to see a little action from him. He is coming in and out of the hole now and has seen some of his tankmates. He's got his full color back so I think everythings going to be ok. Just like yours, May hide for a short time then be sociable. :)

Thanks

I have a social wrasse that I got from Rob also, and he hid for almost 3 days, now he thinks he runs the show, I wish I could get a picture, he's awesome.

From my research I have found where this one is also known as "Social Wrasse" "Red Fairy Wrasse" "Long Fin Red Fairy Wrasse"

So we may have the same fish. :)

Yup same fish. I LOVE my wrasse , he is so pretty and friendly. He will dart back into his cave if he gets spooked, but he loves to swim as fast as he can across the tank back n forth, while "flashing" in the middle.

Im trying to get him used to the camera so I can get a picture.

If I had a bigger tank, I'd get another.

expect it to hide for the first day or so.

Cool, I can live with that. I think I may be done with fish in my 75G. I've got a happy community now without maxing out the tank. ;)

Thanks for the info.

My wife is a picture taking nut! :D I have hundreds. I need to get a few resized and uploaded to my Gallery. When I do, I'll send you a message. :)

I actually got a pair of them when I got mine...they are great to watch. Someone warned me about them being jumpers in another thread.... and I don't have a top on my bow front...

I just had Rob order me one...because my bar goby jumped out two nites ago and died :( don't want the wrasse's to do that too...

i just made a top out of acrylic for our 24g and put alot of holes in the top for air to flow through.

I haven't tried to make anything for my tank yet...I figure if that goes anything like any of my other home improvement projects...it's easier to just buy it :)
