Red Foot Snails.

I read somewhere today that red foot snails eat cyano bacteria. Is this true? Anyone have any experience with them?

This can't be true. It is to good to be true. Haha.

The red foot "moon" snail (often called red foot snail) is a temperate snail (west coast) and dosnt do very well in a reef temp (76+) aquarium. But there are several "red foot" snails out there, so a better idea of the acutal snail would be better.

This is where I read it:

Fourth one one the top row. Click it to read about it. This is all it says.

Just recently I discovered these beautiful Red Footed Snails at the LFS. They are also called Mexican Red Foot or Norrisa Top Shell, and are reported to consume green hair algae and cyano bacteria. Why don't we all have these?!? Quite expensive at $5 each, they do better in cooler water (below 78F) so time will tell if they survive in my tanks (high of 81F). The bright red is a real eye catcher, contrasted by a black mouth and white foot."

Anyone ever keep these?

These snails are found on giant kelp (very cold water), which is what they specialize on. There's a good reason we don't all have them. They're entirely inappropriate for the hobby.
