I bought this a couple of weeks ago and still cant find an id. The only possible id is the red with white polyps, and from what I've read nowhere mentions yellow polyps at all. Only the red with white polyp im finding.
Im feeding it oyster eggs about 4 times a week target feeding and its in a high flow area. Its getting that wax look to it I read that it will go away is this true? And I have a little bit of cyano algae on a couple of branches is there an easy way to get it off. Any extra help or info would be great thanks.
p.s. all the polyps open up I just took the pick for a visual thanks.

that gorgonian is awesome.........definately need to feed it though.........and they like good light......i've got 5 gorgonians in my tank and love them....

Actually, that is more than likely not a photosynthetic species. It's gonna need lots of food and good flow. I would try the Non-photosynthetic forum....

Looks like some kind of sea whip for me.

Here are link, known to me for gorgonians identification:
1 , Elicella and Leptogorgia here, they have different species.

Or Image Search for sea whip or gorgonian thin red yellow and see, what shows up.

There was Massimo Boyer's Seafans page and AIMS corals search, but they are not accessible now.

Not an expert, struggiling myself, but here is what I would do, if I was in your place:
1. Try to set continuous feeding, of feed at least 5 times a day.
2. More variety in foods, whatever is available to you. Oyster eggs are ~50 microns, up to 200 micron should work too - you will see, if this fits the mouths. Small Golden pearls, Argent Labs Hatch Fry or Hikari First Bites, soaked in aminoacids crushed blended flakes and dried zooplankton, smallest fraction, ZoPlan, RotiFeast is larger, Reef Roids, Rod's Food, specialized food, Fauna Marin and Timo.
Live foods: L, S or SS rotifers, brine shrimp hatching. Selcon and vitamins with aminoacids now and then.
3. Filtration, able to process this. It's easier to say, then do it, I know.
4. Flow: some sea whips are losing tissue in a high flow, some - restore it in high flow. Watch your gorgonian's reaction and move it in appropriate place.
5. Many gorgonians are prone to algae growth in lit places, try to keep it in shaded or dark area for a start.

HTH and good luck!
Post your observations and tips.
