Red lines through Clown

I have been looking for a perc. clown to pair up with the one I already have, and was able to find one at a LFS near me.

I noticed all the perc. clowns they are selling have red veiny lines through them. Is this normal? Sign of stress? Disease? I would like to get one, but I do not want to add something that may be sick to my tank.

I've not seen that before. The way you describe it indicates it's problematic, but if they all had that it leads to think otherwise.

I was told that they were babies. They are the same size or larger than my current perc.

When I first set up my tank after getting it from a co-worker, I saw the same lines in my perc. They have since faded, but are still noticeable. My perc. is a couple years old, but no where near the size of any other clowns I have seen. If this is a problem with the breed, I may wait until he passes from old age and go with a pair of clowns lacking the vein issue.

I appreciate everyone's input.

I wouldn't go for it. be patient and find some that you are confident in. Not worth the risk right?
