Red Mandarin

I made a post when I got mine several months ago. Mine was a beauty that I lost to a rogue crab that has since been scewered.

That looks like my new mandarin. I thought it was just a regular green, but it has the red tail. Okreefer's was much more orange/red than the one in the picture above.

No different than a green or spotted mandarin.

I seeded my tank as a precaution even though I had a good healthy population of pods. If you have other pod eaters make sure you build a couple of pod havens so they have a save place to breed without being eaten.

Hmmm...

Amazingly close to my green mandarin...

As sharky observed, just more red in the tail...a pretty specimen and not a bad price if not harvested by using chemicals... Unethical harvesting methods is what accounts for many deaths of mandarins...of course the new owners blame themselves for the fish's demise...

Live Aquaria does have an excellent reputation in the hobby...

Does anyone have one of these red mandarin or even seen one before. I like this little guy. Simular to the green but more colorful.

Doug -

I think this little guy is the result of a little photoshop, but maybe just outstanding lighting and photography. No doubt he's a knockout in that photo.

I had one for about 2 minutes a few months back. My 4line wrasse decided he looked too close in color to him and went after him like a fat girl on a cheeseburger.

I had one for about a week. but it was picked on by my six line. Unfortunately she didn't make it. Mine was much more red than the one pictured, and very pretty. I actually ordered a green and that was what was shipped. seemed to aclimate and eat very well just beat up on in the end.

I had one that looked even redder. I just ordered a green and thats what I got. It maybe that they are finally seperating them as different species.
