red planet stn at encrusting base?

My red planet has stn on its base. Here are several issues that I am suspecting and was wondering what you all think might be causing it. First issue is I believing I am getting low ph at night. I am thinking it is dropping to 7.7 at night. The best i see my ph during the day it 7.9. The other issue is I believe my water has gotten too clean. I rarely have to clean my glass and sand bed. Quite a few of my corals have reduced p/e and several have paled in color. Growth has pretty much stopped. I have shut down one of my skimmer pumps to try and dirty up the water. I had both pumps shut down for a bit but my ph dropped even lower. Probably a higher co2 level in my basement. All of my readings are good, calcium alittle high at 500. Any ideas?
thanks

I actually just changed my ph probe and calibrated it and my ph is good at about 8.19. My alk stays pretty stable at about 9.0 Just wondering if a ultra low nutrient tank would experience any of these issues? I just tested and my phos are at .09, nitrates look to be at 1ppm, mag is 1280, ca it 500. Just trying to figure out things before I loose any of my colonies. I swapped out my di resin today since I was getting at tds reading of 21 with my well water. I would like to do some water changes with 0 tds water and would like to see my nitrates in the 4ppm or so range.
thanks
Jeff
