Just purchased soem from BRS and cant wait to use it. If anyone is using this or has used it I would love to here about it.

I gave it a shot and had terrible results. May have just been a bad batch though. The Ca didn't test any higher than typical IO salt, and it precipated like crazy. Hopefully it works out for you. I really wanted to like it, but never saw an advantage to it.

I think it's great!! Best salt I ever used for the price. Like was said before, watch the alk, it is usually very high - between 13 and 14. A 10% water change on my 220 with 75 sump raises my alkalinity by 1 dkh. Regular red sea salt supposedly mixes up to 7.5 and sounds more suitable for someone like me that doses 2-part anyway. I'm going to try it for my next bucket.

I love this salt! If I had a job right now I would be buying this and NOT reef crystals that's for sure! I never had any parameter issues with this salt at all. Now I am battling low Alk from reef crystals :(

FYI I think this salt is a bit more concentrated compared to the other salts. When I would mix it, I would use 26 1/2 cups in 30 gallons of water for 1.025. be sure to test before you go to the full amount in your container

That's 13 cups total, right? I just wanted to make sure no one saw this and thought it was 26 1/2 cups total. That would be a salinity of certain death!!!!

This was the exact thing i seen. I just recently went back to IO after 8 months of trying Red Sea. All issues went away.

The advice from RS over here BTW is to mix this salt with your RO at room temperature, adding salt steadily and taking particular care not to overshoot your intended salinity. After mixing for a hour or two, warm up to tank temperature and use straight away. The advice is most definitely not to keep this salt mixing for more than a few hours.

do anyone know whether i can use the read sea coral pro salt mix for disolving in tap water?

I guess that would depend on your tap water parameters. RSCP is particularly high in Alk, Ca & Mg - as my tap water is so hard I can almost use it to write on a black board, if I mixed RSCP with tap water I would end up with Ca & Mg way out of balance (either that or a major precipitation event).

Help me understand, why are you not supposed to leave it sit after mixing for more than a few hours? Does this mean you cannot use this salt if you intend to have a saltwater storage container??

Thanks!

I always let it mix for at least 24 hours, sometimes 3-4 days if I''m really busy and have never had a problem. However, it does precipitate like crazy on the pumps and power cords, not so much on the container, but it's there. I checked my batch that has been mixing for 2 days and have an alk of 10.4 dkh (red sea pro test kit) and calcium of 520 (API.) I always add the salt to 70 degree or so RO/DI and let the pumps warm it until I'm ready to use it.
