I picked up replacement lights at my LFS. Even though I am months away from having to replace mine, I heard they were going to be in short supply so I grabbed them while they were available.

I have also heard that the replacement fan, for the tank, either is or will be in short supply soon.

Tangwich:

Hey look at that we posted at the same time. LOL

I never thought about the capricorn thing. I just keep thinking about the lack of sleep when the time comes.

stock bulbs

stock bulbs

That's great..will look into the straight pin bulbs and remove media, especially since I'll be getting my Stevie T media basket on Wednesday. WOOHOO!

i replaced one of my bulbs with a straight pin 65w from the LFS. it is a little bigger than the stock bulbs so it was a tight fit. but it can be done.

the stock RSM bulbs are T-5. many people like to argue this point but the truth is T-5 refers to the diameter of the bulb (5/8) despite what the end caps/connectors look like

so a power compact from the LFS is bigger (and harder to fit in to the hood). i am no physics major but i have read elsewhere that if you have two bulbs of the roughly the same wattage, then the smaller one is more intense.
so in theory the stock bulbs are "better" because they are smaller

with this in mind, and the fact that it wasnt that much cheaper to buy from the LFS, i will only be using stock RSM replacement T-5 bulbs from now on.

RSMreefer, yeah sleepless nights are definitely ahead..i don't have kids, don't even have a girlfriend for crying out loud..lol...but I do remember helping my sister and her husband take care of my nephew when he was born and it wasn't easy.
I do envy you though, as I can't wait to get married and start a family some day. The girl that I have started dating has me confused a bit. She has strong potential to be "the one" which is good, but on the other hand if I get married, I lose my "ultimate bachelor" status and all the meaningless girls/s*x that comes with that status..lol..I just have to make sure that I fight to keep my Vette and my two fish tanks, including my RSM in my bedroom : )
ok, so enough of the "Dr. Phil" conversation and back to reefing. I am pretty sure that I will stick to the stock light bulb replacements Snake. Did a bit of research and seems that your point is validated by many other RSM owners.

I wish there was a way to have folders on this thread with everyones mods and also full tank shots.

I have taken some time off the thread and I know for a fact I have probably missed some great FTS and some mods.

Let me know if there is a lot of info in one place on mods. In the meantime I will be catching up with the thread.

Patio - I don't think there have been any new mods in a while so there may not be much to catch up on other than pictures and other items.

RSMReef - Sorry to see you go! Sounds like you got a handful there. Please do post pictures of the baby when it comes! Heck, you could even post your two-year olds pictures now!

Great idea Mrs. Peer!

DontXtripNfall - I finished a miserable 3rd or 4th I think LOL. I should have used a newer pic - I might have jumped up one rating. Actually I didn't want to win - I think the winner may have to run the next NTOTM and I just don't have time. Plus, the winner justly deserved it!

Thanks,

We feel tired all the time now :)

I have heard that after the second the third seems easier, I guess we will see. But in the end after all those tough days it is all worth it.

I will try and get you guys and gals a photo when the time comes.

Well enough with the days of my life soap opera-

Reef on!

I'm all excited now at the prospect of motherhood. We're planning on a little tyke next year. I wonder if I will have time then to take care of the tank.

Well, I saw a nice rose bta at the LFS today. I know my tank is still too new for one, so I was wondering how many RSM owners out have had success with owning one.

By the way my two clowns are in the RSM after 3.5 weeks of QT.

Aaron Peer - I believe you have some questions about my tank because a tank like mine if not one seen often... I have to admit I'm very curious about what your thinking :P

DontXtripNFall - You had some frag pieces on a crate? in front of the return pumps. My first thought was that it could be too much flow, but after reading Brent's post about the flow in the ocean, I realize that it should be fine.

Also, I've never seen a tank this small with a miniature frag tank inside it. It looks interesting.

You're doing a good job!

Folks;
Just received New lights from Pinky in Houston, TX.
She indicated no backorder problems whatsoever.
Take Care All-Jerry

RBTA piece of cake over a year now. Try and get a RBTA that has split off 100 times and it will be the hardiest thing in your tank. They get big quick so give it plenty of room.
