If I remember correctly, wasn't it 1/4" tubing?
Ok, never mind Kent just answered.
Not quite that small Mrs. Peer.... ;)
So how are those Bears going to do this fall????

I agree with Reefmack and Kent on the Pinpoint wireless thermometer and refractometer.

Also, I would like to add that investing in a pH monitor is a must. I used to test it with the API test kit and grew to hate having to figure what color the test results match to the chart.

Well, we got clearance to get rid of the tree-hugging hippies! LOL! Although they were my alma mater, I was never a fan of their football team.

Question for All:
My two clownfish are hanging at the bottom where the sandbed is and they're kicking up sand. Now there's a trench there. They don't have any signs of ich and is eating well. They're not the sharpest knives in the drawer if you know what I mean. So, are they just dumb?

Kent - Thanks for asking. I haven't been able to give updates on this thread to the crazy school schedule the past 6 weeks. I'm finally done and have more time until school starts again in one month. I'm devoting all my time to the tank and my reef buddies here.

I currently have several coral frags purchased since beginning of June - ricordea, several zoas colonies, and a candy cane. Of course, the two clownfish, a cleaner shrimp and snails. My hermits have been banished to the LFS after they started to make mincemeat out of my snails. :( I have yet to decide what my next fish will be so any suggestions from my reef buddies will be appreciated.

I purchased an RO/DI unit from the Filter Guys and have had two flood incidents since. Thinking back, I shouldn't have skimped on the auto shut-off valve and float sensor.

As for the pH monitor, I got the Milwaukee pH monitor. It's accuracy isn't the greatest (+/- 0.2), but at least I know what range my pH is in.

The stock skimmer has not been pulling a lot of nog but I don't have much in my tank. I know I always promise to post pictures, but I never do. Perhaps because I have a horrible camera.

AHH Terry your a genius! The national guard was trying to recruit me and sent me a credit card to activate if I was going join... which seems like a waste of effort since some people might not want to join and just throw out the card..

NaCl+H2O Fish - I will add puple Up un a few days. I'm just waiting on a new shippment to my lfs.
Also, I will send a water sampple to a Lab (20USD) to see the exact parameters of the water.
Also, some time during this weekend a friend (marine biologist) will come to see how things are progressing and start taking the correct mesures to keep the tank ni good shape.
Not quite sure what he will see, if there is nothing but brown alge and some spots of green alge.

About the RS thermometer / hydrometer, well the SG is some place between 1.020 and 1.025 and the temp is also between 75 and 79°.
So thats what I call accuracy!!! LMAO

The shopping list it getting bigger every day.
1.- Koralia 2
2.- Refractometer RHS-10ATC
3.- PinPoint Thermometer.
4.- Test Kit. ( I will try the Seachem Marine Basic)
5.- Pipe to extend the circulation pumps.

Thank you 4 the advise!!
Arreola

PS: I have a cycling tank... woooohoooo!!!! :D

Mrs. Peer - Kent may be correct - the clowns may just be in love LOL! Are they old enough to lay eggs? I'm not sure if they'd make a nest in substrate though.

DontXtripNfall - don't thank me till you've tried it! I've read it more than once so maybe the card idea is a good one - let us know!

Arreola You're finding out that this reefkeeping is an expensive hobby! If you're going to put the tubing extensions on the powerhead pumps, add 12"-14" plastic cable ties to your shopping list. Without the ties wrapped around the pumps (per the MJ1200 pump mod instructions/pictures) the weight of the tubing will pull off the bottom part of the pump. Even if you don't put the extra tubing on, the cable ties are still a good idea to hold that bottom piece on the pump. More than once when I've pulled out those pumps I've had one of the bottom pieces fall all the way to the bottom of that pump chamber. One time I seriously thought I had my hand stuck down there trying to get that pump part out - it's a long reach down in a skinny compartment, and big hands are not a help!

The clowns are too small to start thinking about setting up a family. LOL!

Anyway, I think they're trying to host. They have black dots appearing on them now and I think it's because of coral stings.

NaCl+H2O Fish - Thank you for the link.
I will see if they also have the other gadgets to place one single order and also, the international shipping should be less is I can get all in a single store.

Have a great weekend
Arreola

Hello guys!
What is the consensus on a chiller for the RSM? Any preferred?
Also a pump to push the water?

I am in south Florida and battling 80-82 degrees and don't even have my Tunze running yet. (RSM skimmer off... tired of bubbles).
