Starting to look for my future tank. Tho not ready quite yet just getting ideas. So on that note anyone have a Red Sea tank? Like it? Hate it? Let me know what it's like. I'm looking more towards the 65 gallon tank. Thoughts, ideas? any type of experience would be appreciated. And also any other type of tank in comparison to the Red Sea line that some of you might have please let me know as of now I'm all ears

I owned a RSM 130D and loved it as far as look. Working on it was a bit of a pain though as are most all in ones without access to the back.

For a 65g tank I'd recommend the Reefer 350 series. The design and layout seem to be updated and I believe would work really well.

If you prefer simplicity and ease of setup the RSM tanks cannot be beat. If you want to be able to customize and save some $ then piecing together the aquarium would be your best option.

Hope this helps.

I had the same tank as Brando457 and agree with the comments. They are nice but very limited to customization of any kind.

I have the Reefer 250 (65 total volume) - it is a wonderful tank with a great build quality. Damn near perfect silicone, thoughtful features and a good value for what you get.

Both the 250 L (65g) tanks are good. The RS company does a great job with support and their tanks are well built. Both look good, are sleek and have minimal in tank hardware.

-The Red Sea Max 250 has a rear chamber for all filtration.
-Comes with a 6 bulb T5 closed hood with EZ 3 position hood.
-Includes all components. Good Sicce pumps. Skimmer is proprietary. Does the job but few other choices.
-No easy way to add a macro algae refugium.
-Actually the RSM250 CAN be customized. I have reactors, dosing pumps, ATO, Exotech pumps & more running. It can be converted to an under cabinet sump but it will cost more to do it right with the LifeReef products. Many have even tossed the T5 and installed LEDs like Radions. But if you want an in cabinet sump & LEDs from the get go, this isn't your tank.

The Reefer series is of a more traditional under cabinet sump, rimless design.
-No hood, choose your own lights.
-You choose & pay for all pumps & protein skimmer.
-The Reefer is likely to be more quiet, depending on skimmer, lights & pumps you choose. But I don't conder thee Max "loud".

The MAX250 requires no decisions on the basic set up and can be put together and running with salt water in an afternoon. It just works. The Reefer would take longer and require more decisions as you're mounting lights, connecting plumbing, choosing skimmers, etc.

I had the 130d also and I thought it was great, especially as it was my first tank so I didn't have to piece it together and my wife liked how it looked. They really are built well and if they didn't cost so much I would've done one of the bigger newer setups but I didn't have that much coin. They sent me an email a while back how they upgraded the pump for it and we're sending me an updated one. I was getting rid of the tank but figured what the hell, thought it was a nice gesture

I have a Red Sea Max C-130L all in one plug and play with cabinet/stand FOR SALE. Everything needed: integral rear sump, built in power center, T5 lighting in hood, water cooling fan, Protein skimmer, heater, pumps, media rack, all black!

My lfs has a Red Sea reefer for sale. I want a cune or I would have bought it. The silicone is perfect. The tank has amazing build quality and the sump and plumbing that come with it are very nice as well.
