Red sea regal Angel

I agree with copps, true red sea regals have not been available (in aus) for 3-4 yeats minimum. We occassionally get yellow bellied regals but they are from indonesia. Our sellers will actually state indo yellow bellied regals. i think the red sea is just something cool the kids want to say.

True Red Sea regals are hard to find just as any other fish originated from that region(P.maculosus, P.asfur, and Acathurus sohal). People had been told by their fishstore that they are collected from the Red Sea than exported from Egypt but the truth is that 90percent of those fish were collected from the Indian Ocean or the Gulf of Aden. Fishshop will tell you the yellow bellied regal is a Egyptian fish(cought from the Red Sea) just to sell a expensive price.

Is there any difference between the red sea regal and the yellow bellied indian ocean form other than location caught?

That's pretty much what about half of the posts in this thread have been saying... there isnt a difference. Collected in different locations but the same fish genetically.

Collection practices in the Red Sea are better than most other areas, so those fish tend to do better, but that's not due to an inherent attribute in the fish that causes that.
