I was thinking about getting a redsea regal angel cause i heard they're reefsafe, witht he exception of sponge (sometimes). Anyone have any experience?
ask david 89 and whatever other numbers he has one in his tank. also have you located one yet? if so do you know how to tell the difference between red sea and the others? lots of people out there making claims.
some say regals from the red sea and indian ocean are usually acceptable and they are easily distinguished by their yellow chest, just stay away from the indo-pacific gray chested regals. john only gets them from one specific dealer so i'm guessing the yellow chest isn't automatically an indication of a healthy specimen. read the regal angel thread it'll have answers to most of your questions.
This is an older pic of my Red Sea Regal from when I first put him (her?) in my tank. I have had it about 4 months now, and other than nip at a Zoa every now and then it's been a model citizen. This one came from FAOIS, and has eaten well from day one. The difficulty with these seem to be in getting one that eats well, some never will eat in captivity and soon perish. (Note - the Red Sea Regals like this one with the yellow chest seem to do better than the Indio - Pacific grey chested ones, just like mattliu mentioned)
