In my 17G tank it start coming out red slime after i turn upside down a rock this summer. At least i did not notice before.

The tank is a little more than 1 year old.

I had a reek tank some years ago and i did have a red slime issue that i solved with eritromicina and never came back.

I did a new research and found mostly same tips
- more flow: i have a lot of flow fo mi softy tank, two power head that run alternately each 3 hours during the day.
- lower nutrient: Po4 0.05 No3 0.05
- lights: are 1 year old marine leds

after water changes they seem to grow better, but i also found that on internet that cyanobacteria get feed from new marine salt

yesterday i pealed of the rock the red slime, today i try to turn off white channel and leave on only blue one, i would take it this way for 4 days

does the cyanobacteria die or just hide?
i have few of them but are several months and i can't get read of them

What are you using for filtration ? Are you doing water changes with RODI ? How much flow is your tank getting from each powerhead ?

I have a Tunze Nano skimmer.
I'm using RODI and tested.

I have 2 power head: 1 Sicce Nano 2000 L/h it should be 530 gph and a koralia nano similar power. They also overlap for about 5 minutes on switch.

i attach a schema from top of tank
and a picture
the red spot is where red slime grows

I recently got a 1/2" straight tube for water changes and it really vacuums it right up. Versus the bottle necked typical gravel vacuum that doesn't always suck it up. That said if you put the straight tube in your sand it is going in the bucket lol

Had luck a few month back with a lights out period as well.

It's such a frustrating algae to get rid of. I've been dealing with I lately too even though I'm in a fallow period.
