Red Slime

Oh, and one more thing, chemi-clean will remove the slime but not the cause of the slime. If you have high phosphates for example, you'll need to figure out why and control that to keep a repeat appearance from occuring.

I just used a round of chemi-clean, and it worked great. Be ready to do 2 treatments though. Also have your skimmer turned off before putting it in the water or you will have a mess. Chemi-clean makes a skimmer go crazy.

a couple of inverts and a few soft corals. I tried to remove it by hand but some broke off and started everywhere. I am still on the road. I will try it when I get back in October.

Thanks

frequent water changes while syphoning it off the sand and rocks possibly a phosphate sponge of some sort, and bump your alk up to about 5 or 6. works like champion

Steve, Like Youngsilver said. Vacuuming it off does a great job. It is a typical cycle that will rid itself but the phosphate sponge and higher alk will help speed it up.

It is amazing how fast it can grow though. You need to vacuum it every day. I used a sock at the end of the hose and had is siphon back into my sump and catch the red crud. That way you are not having to add so much new water.

Flow... Flow.. Flow

Yeah, I can agree with this. I had a real bad outbreak when I first got into this hobby. It was all over my sand, and my rocks.

I added two PHs, and about 50 narrasius snails (Just to keep the sand bed turned, not so much to eat the algae).

It went away real quick. Never had another episode again in the main tank.

I did have another outbreak in my sump when I first set it up, but I let it run its course (let the algae use whatever nutrients it was finding to grow), and kept good flow going through my sump, and it is gone now.

I have 4 maxi jets at the moment. two 600 and two 900 in a 75 gallon. I was in the process of building a closed loop Mag24 when I had to leave town for work.

I will be down that way in a couple of weeks. I am in the Outer banks of North Carolina right now, next week I fly to Chicago and drive to Muskegon Michigan. Then back to Norfolk driving from there to Savannah Georgia then I will head into Florida. So far looks like Orland, Okochobee county, and Tampa Bay. Then I drive back home to Oklahoma. If I can get away I will call you and stop by.

That made me tierd just reading where all you have to go lol. You work too hard for me. Give me a call when you hit Orlando, and if i happen to have the day off from the Grampa daycare center lol, i'll meet up with you and buy you a beer or something.
