Red Starfish feeding requirements

I bought one of these Starfish yesterday:

My LFS told me they feed off the rocks and glass, is this accurate or will I need to feed it as well? I read only small Starfish eat algae?

I highly doubt its a linkia. I asked abou linkia's and he explained to me that he doesnt order them because of how many usually die, he said 10 could arrive in the morning, he willl acclimates all day until 7pm and still lose 8 of them.

To me it looks 100% like a fromia, it has the little dots on its body rather than the slightly larger circles the linkia's have. I just took another where you can see a little better:

The pictures of the red Formia have distinct black dots on them

I think it all boils down to you need a mature tank with lots of algae and food for them or they won't last. I love starfish and think they are beautiful but will never own one for the reason that they never live very long.

That looks more like it, in fact my LFS said mine wont get much bigger than it is now and Live Aquaria says that species only gets 3" big.

I would say its around 2.7" atm, but as I mentioned LFS said its prob at max size as it is.
