red string macro-algae?

I have this strange macro-algae growth on my rocks that is starting to concern me. It looks like chaeto but attached to the rock and red. Not doing a lot of harm but it is starting to encroach on my zoas and I think it might smoother them. Picking it out is almost impossible, and the brillow brush only takes so much off. Does any one have any experience with this? My blue legged, red legged crabs and snails won't eat the stuff at all. No other nuisance algae, I might try a bag of carbon and/or phosban and see how that works, but otherwise I am stumped.

These were taken with my iPhone which was just laying around. It looks pretty clear to me, I can get a higher res if need be. Thanks for your help.
