Red striped angel

I have a red striped angle and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. How bad do they nip? My tank is mainly zoas and SPS. Was thinking about getting a clam. Any thoughts?

I'm assuming you are talking about centropyge eilbi? Its a gamble with any dwarf and zoo's and clams are always a temptation for just about any angel IMO. My majestic is pretty reef safe but not around zoo's and I would never risk a clam. You might get lucky and you might have to fish him out.

Mine goes after my Bird-nest, Kaleidoscope Clove, GSP, Daisy Polyps, and brain coral.

Good luck. The biggest "damage" from the grazing is on the GSP, Kaleidoscope Clove , and Daisy Polyps

Glad that you bumped this. I had to return the fix to the LFS since it decided to go after my zoa's. IMO, not a reef safe fish but it definitely was one beautiful fish. If I had a FOWLR tank, I would get one again. $.02

Yea I put mine up for sale on the local forum. It really sucks because I really like the fish. She has a lot of personality! Anyone else had any experience with this fish or any other dwarf in a reef tank?

Yeah, my late (RIP) Cherub, C. argi, was well behaved towards corals. My African Flameback is the ame. I wouldn't trust my C. bicolor with anything that is an LPS even if you paid me to do so! Know your fish, know your corals all I can say. I set my Reef up primarily for the fish, so...

In my experience Angelfish are most likely going to nip at SPS Zoas or clams. The three things in your tank.

No way will I risk it.

All in an sps tank with 4 clams.
No shame cause as long as my corals are healthy there's no real longterm damage.

I have a pair of potters in a tank with sps zoos and lps. They just **** off the sps so I only get polyp extension at night but no real damage.
