Also I am red/green color deficient so I am terrible at identifying colors. My wife says the colony is more of a green then a red. I'd be interested to see what it looks like in another tank.

Great looking tank =).. Look forward to picking up a piece of the acro in the future..

I was dealing with some stubborn cyano also on my old system and new. I think I may have nailed it down though. I started to not use straight tap water to rinse my socks sponges etc.. I would initially but then I will quickly soak the item in either dechlorinated tap (prime) or rodi before it goes back in the tank. That and I added a chloramine filter onto my rodi in conjunction with my standard carbon block . Even though I never got a chlorine residual on the test I was skeptical that the single spectrapure block was doing it over the long haul for chloramine. Mine can be total coincidence though but Thought I'd share what finally worked for me cause I seemed cursed for the last 2-3 years with cyano it wasn't overbearing but it never went away.

It's tough to really assign cause and effect here. What little tap water was included in the rinse should not have any effect on the tank. Also in Santa Rosa we just have chlorine in the tap water. No chloramine!

Totally agree and probably should have worded it different. I was just sharing how I battled it and what I think helped me . I'm Def no expert and it wasn't planned to be a recommendation at all =).

I was always on the same train of thought that rinsing with tap water doesn't matter and it probably doesn't. I have a local fellow reefer( I call him old timer lol he's had saltwater running since the late 70's) that's been telling me for years I should not be using straight tap to rinse things going directly into my tank and I said he was crazy and it didn't matter . His thoughts are why put small amounts of things in your tank constantly that are put in our water to kill living organisms all the while trying to keep delicate living organisms.

I'm not sure what's the cause and effect but I have seen a positive reaction in my tank over the last month or 2 and not knowing what it really was I'll just keep up with what I'm doing now.. =)

Anyways apologize for the partial thread derailment carry on with the acro porn..
